Shieldaig Lodge Hotel is the perfect base for travelling fishing parties. Enjoy access to 26,000 acres of first-class fly fishing, with salmon and sea trout fishing on Loch Badachro and the River Badachro and brown trout fishing on the famous Fairy Lochs.
The hotel has fishing rights in nine major and numerous smaller lochans, with boats on six of these. Beginners of any age are welcome. Fly fishing lessons typically start on the lawn of the Lodge, and once you have mastered the cast you will progress onto a loch with a personal instructor.
We also have an agreement with a local creel fisherman. It is one of only two places in the UK where you can creel fish. You will get the chance to see traditional creel fishing and will nearly always return with crab, lobster or langoustine! Our chef will happily prepare a special meal with your catch of the day.

The following activities and experiences are available to book:
- One-hour fly fishing lesson – £60.00 per person or £75.00 for two.
- Half-day fly fishing, including introductory lesson plus loch experience – £100.00 per person or £150.00 for two.
- Full-day instruction with ghillie – £200.00 per person or £250.00 for two.
- Full-day wild fishing with Argo transport and ghillie – £200.00 per person or £250.00 for two.
- Bare-bones permit – £15.00 for a bank beat, £20.00 for use of the boat per person.
- Sea or creel fishing – £20.00 per person for 1.5 – 2 hours.
Seafood Gastro Experience
Unique in the UK, our Shellfish Gastro Experience offers you the chance to cook your catch!
For £20.00 per person for the boat trip and £100.00 per person for a full Seafood Gastro Feast (with lobster, langoustine, crab etc), your catch is delivered to the kitchen where our chefs will create an incredible five-course meal for you.
The experience starts on Dry Island in the bay of Badachro. Board local fisherman Iain’s creel boat, who will then give you a guided historic tour of the bay combined with creel fishing. During the trip you will help him it bring in the day’s haul – typically crab, langoustine and lobster.
